Employment Type: Under Contract

Reports To: Director of Engineering & Urban Planning Standards Unit

Job Responsibilities

1. Development and maintenance of National Standards in the areas of building materials.

- Carry out standards need assessment for identification of priority standards to be developed.
- Map priority topics with already existing relevant international, regional, national, or foreign standards.
- produce yearly standardization work programmes.
- produce preliminary draft standards.
- Convene and perform Working Group, Subcommittee, and Technical Committee meetings and act as secretary to the Committee.
- produce Committee drafts, Rwanda Draft Standards, and Final Draft Rwanda Standards.

2. Represent RSB in regional/international technical committee meetings (ISO, ARSO, COMESA, EAC, etc.) and represent Rwanda's interests.

- Propose and deliver working drafts for regional/international technical committee consideration as new work items.
- Consider and approve proposals from member states as new items.
- Convene and perform National Consultation meetings or Mirror Committee meetings and act as secretary to the committees.
- Act as Secretary of the regional/international technical committee for which Rwanda hosts the secretariat.

3. perform trainings, standards awareness, and certification audits.

- produce training materials.
- perform trainings, seminars, and workshops for stakeholders.
- perform certification audits and assessment of companies to determine standards compliance level.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering – 0 Year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering – 0 Year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Material Sciences – 0 Year of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy – 0 Year of relevant experience.

- Analytical skills.
- Fluency in Kinyarwanda, English and/or French. Knowledge of all is an added advantage.
