THRIVE PROJECT MANAGER 

World Vision is a child-focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing development programmes in 30 Districts of Rwanda. Our interventions in the strategic period of 2026-2030 seek to reach 2.5 million of the most vulnerable children. This is done through programming in Child Protection, and Education, Nutrition and WASH, and Poverty Alleviation (Resilience and Livelihoods).

World Vision Rwanda seeks to hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced Rwandan national for the role of THRIVE Project Manager, joining an established and experienced team. This stimulating position incorporates a range of skills and development in multiple areas, allowing for an exciting opportunity for career growth in a dynamic, global organization. It will be based in Kigali, Rwanda and reports to the Integrated Program Director

Purpose of the position:

To guide the implementation of THRIVE Project in World Vision Rwanda and ensuring integration of resilience and livelihood with other livelihood projects. The manager will also organize with other livelihood projects to ensure integration is enhanced and aligned the key models in all Aps.

Programme Implementation 

  1. Establish mechanisms to ensure the quality of THRIVE Project implementation for agriculture and economic development
  2. Provide support in project planning, targeting, monitoring, and reporting impact 
  3. Champion the implementation of project models in all clusters as a customer-driven approach
  4. Provide technical support to the R&L sector and other project staff implementing livelihood core project models to ensure alignment.
  5. Develop a cost-effective marketing and integration strategy that is effective and appropriate for the target/-desired market
  6. Develop a business plan and review it quarterly and take appropriate and necessary actions
  7. Work with VFR to develop suitable and services with an “attractive” name and packaging for new products and services 
  8. Promote and use business forums in sectors and districts to market THRIVE project products and to function as coaching and mentorship forums.
  9. Lead in the training of staff and participate in the training of communities and clients on project model components and products
  10. Facilitate partners' implementation and ensure they are technically supported to deliver to THRIVE mandate 
  11. Coordinate with project Leads to facilitate cross-team collaboration and coordinate multi-sectoral projects related to poverty alleviation.
  12. Facilitate regular coordination meetings among Project leads in the workstream/cluster to ensure integration and effective coordination.

 

  • Project models successfully implemented within the Cluster and expected results realized 

 

  • The most vulnerable children and their families within the Cluster benefit from the project model interventions

Financial Management 

  1. Clearand timely budgets for THRIVE Project
  2. Monitor the spending of THRIVE and advise clusters on the monthly cash flow to avoid significantly over or underspending 
  3. Compile variance explanations and take action on time to ensure THRIVE budgets are being used as planned
  • Spending according to the standards and with impact

  1. Develop and monitor the implementation of core project models on a monthly basis 
  2. Regularly monitor the marketing strategies and performance of partners in livelihood and ensure effectiveness in APs.
  3. Monitor the impact of the livelihood programme and marketing efforts by relating them to operational indicators
  4. Support the collection and documentation of impact and success stories.
  5. Regularly compile and analyze data and submit to TP Manager and other stakeholders
  6. Produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports for WV and mandatory government reports

 

  • Timely, progress reports and evaluations of models produced and submitted

 

  • Monitoring tools developed and validated for use

 

  • Achievements under each project model in all are on track

Communication 

  1. Prepare annual reviews/learning events meant for national dailies and international releases on core project models on poverty alleviation.
  2. Participate in WVI communities of participation (CoP) directly related to core project models, such as on Economic Development, Natural Resource Management, Food Security, etc. and represent WVR in such meetings.
  3. Develop and circulate project model promotional material, e.g. brochures, leaflets and fliers
  4. Document lessons learnt and better practices on project models
  • Document and share impact stories and lessons learned along the implementation and monitoring processes 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

List academic requirements (if applicable), technical skills, or other knowledge required as a minimum qualification for this position.
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture, Agribusiness, Rural Development, Entrepreneurship, or any other related field.(If the degree is issued by a foreign institution, an equivalence certificate from the Rwanda Higher Education Council (HEC) will be required)
  2. 5 years of experience in Community Development with a major focus on economic development with an international NGO (or similar organization); or government ‘s related projects. 
List additional work experience required as a minimum qualification for this position.
  1. A good understanding of the Rwanda multi-sectoral approach to graduate people out of poverty.
  2.  Sound knowledge of the Rwanda Resilience and Livelihood programming context
  3. Demonstrated ability to work in Resilience and Livelihood programs across Rwanda
  4. Strong project management skills
  5. Strong capacity building skills
  6. Good interpersonal skills
  7. Belief in World Vision’s vision, mission and core values

License, registration, or certification required to perform this position:

If applicable, include language requirement(s) as a minimum qualification for this position.

  1. Driving License Category with the ability to drive a car 
  2. Effective in written and verbal communication in English and Kinyarwanda 

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

List academic, technical skills or other knowledge preferred for this position.
  1. Master’s degree will be an added advantage
  2. Advance computer literacy 
  3. Knowledge of French is an added advantage 
  4. Experience in implementing agribusiness and graduation models including BSL, UPG, Local Value Chain Development, Business Facilitation, Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture, ect. 
  5. Experience in promoting financial literacy models such as MIF, Saving Groups , etc. 
  6. Experience in working with cooperatives

  • The position requires ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 60 % of the time.
  • The position requires to work closely with local partners and the local government
