JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Climate Data Management System Operation

• Operate, keep, and protect the Climate Data Management System according to Standard Operating Procedures.

• Archive observational data and metadata records according to professional standards.

• Encode all report forms.

• Register all data reports in appropriate logbooks.

• detect reporting periods for all datasets.

• Ensure data is organized by station names and reporting periods.

1. Data Entry, Storage, and Metadata Management

• perform data entry processes for station and discovery metadata.

• produce data archiving tools including backup systems, hardware, and filing systems.

• Ensure all station reports are systematically archived.

• keep structured data storage systems for climate records.

1. Data Requests and Customer assist

• Inform and consult with the Head of Division and Big Data Specialist on data requests.

• Plan and organize daily, weekly, and monthly data management tasks.

• Verify data accuracy on a daily basis.

• oversee large volumes of incoming climate data requests.

• Respond to customer inquiries via phone, email, or other channels.

• Ensure customer satisfaction and accurate data delivery.

• keep customer records and resolve complaints.

1. Data Processing and Quality Control

• evaluate and correct inconsistencies in daily data forms.

• Ensure all data is entered according to defined variables.

• Organize station data before system entry.

• Fulfill internal and external data requests.

1. Software and Data Systems assist

• collaborate with database management, IT, and instrument maintenance teams to resolve data coding issues.

• assist proper data capture and storage across systems.

• Ensure accurate data processing using approved software tools.

1. Metadata Management and Backup

• Ensure timely transmission of required data from observers to database officers.

• Perform daily backups of the database.

• assist collection, storage, and dissemination of station metadata.

• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and Big Data Specialist.

RELEVANT NOTE

Candidates with degrees in non-meteorological fields must hold relevant certifications or have equivalent experience in meteorological observations or data management.
