Data Observations, Quality Control and Processing Division Manager

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Climate Data Management System Operation

• Gather and compile weather and climate data from national sources.

• Clean, organize, and structure data for use in database systems.

• Register data reports in logbooks and digital templates following WMO/QMS guidelines.

• Process and analyze climate data to extract useful insights.

• detect new data sources and enhance data mining and reporting methods.

• Write SQL queries to extract and organize data by station, type, and time period.

  1. Data Storage, Backup, and System Management

• Ensure proper storage and backup of climate data systems.

• Archive station reports systematically.

• Define and update data structures for improved analysis and management.

• keep secure and accessible data systems.

  1. Data Analysis and Reporting

• Interpret data using statistical methods, graphs, and charts.

• detect trends, patterns, and correlations in large datasets.

• produce analytical reports with tables, charts, and visualizations.

• collaborate with management to prioritize data needs for decision-making.

• track performance of data mining systems and resolve issues.

• assist routine analytical tasks for operational decision-making.

• Collaborate with data quality and IT teams to enhance analytical tools.

  1. Advanced Data Systems and Programming

• collaborate with IT and data teams in system maintenance and optimization.

• assist cluster computing environments and large-scale data processing.

• Use programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data manipulation.

• Ensure compliance with international meteorological data standards (WMO, ISO 9001:2015).

RELEVANT NOTE

Candidates must have either:

• A professional/technical certificate OR
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in:

Cluster computing resources, climate databases, climate modeling, Linux/Unix systems, or Python programming.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science – 3 Years Experience

• Master’s Degree in Data Science – 1 Year Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematical Sciences – 3 Years Experience

• Master’s Degree in Mathematical Sciences – 1–3 Years Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Big Data – 3 Years Experience

• Master’s Degree in Big Data – 1 Year Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Machine Learning & AI – 3 Years Experience

• Master’s Degree in Machine Learning & AI – 1 Year Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Systems – 3 Years Experience

• Master’s Degree in Computer Systems – 1 Year Experience

• Digital literacy and programming capability

• Ability to run scripts and oversee cluster computing systems
