Reports To:Plant & Microbial Biotechnology Program Coordinator Senior Principal Research Fellow

Job Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and oversee all scientific, technical, and administrative operations of the Centre of Excellence for Crop Biotechnology (COECB).
• deliver strategic leadership for biotechnology research, capacity building, and infrastructure development in line with RAB and national priorities.
• organize implementation of COECB activities, ensuring alignment with approved work plans, budgets, and timelines.
• Supervise scientists, technicians, and assist staff under COECB; ensure performance management and capacity development.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety, regulatory, stewardship, and quality management requirements for BSL-2 laboratories and screenhouses.
• organize development, evaluate, and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratories, greenhouses, and screenhouses.
• produce technical reports, regulatory data packages, and regulatory dossiers.
• assist resource mobilization, partnerships, and institutional visibility of the Centre.
• Strengthen collaboration with national, regional, and international laboratories.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• PhD in Plant Pathology – 10 Years of relevant experience.
• PhD in Plant Biotechnology – 10 Years of relevant experience.
• PhD in Molecular Biology – 10 Years of relevant experience.
• PhD in Plant Breeding – 10 Years of relevant experience.
