Position: Field Officer

Duty Station: Kigali, Rwanda (with regular travel to communities)

Reports to: Sub-Project Coordinator

Through sponsorship and family empowerment, we work alongside communities to strengthen livelihoods, enhance well-being, and create opportunities for lasting change based on dignity, solidarity, accountability, and respect.

Position Summary

U'MWIZA- Rwanda is seeking a qualified, motivated, and compassionate Field Officer to assist the implementation of its sponsorship and family empowerment programmes. The successful candidate will work directly with sponsored children, youth, elders, their families, and community groups to promote self-reliance and sustainable community development.

Key Responsibilities

  • perform regular home visits to sponsored children, youth, elders, and their families.
  • Facilitate family empowerment using U’MWIZA-Rwanda programme tools.
  • assist families to detect, execute, and track their own development goals.
  • Promote safeguarding and protect the rights of children and vulnerable families.
  • Facilitate assist Family Group (SFG) meetings and strengthen community participation.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality sponsor correspondence, including digital communication.
  • perform beneficiary assessments, monitoring visits, and follow-up activities.
  • keep accurate beneficiary records and programme data.
  • produce timely reports and submit required documentation.
  • Collaborate with local authorities, schools, health facilities, churches, and other community stakeholders.
  • Participate in programme planning, meetings, training, and organizational learning activities.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social sciences, IT and any other relevant field.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience working with vulnerable families or community development programmes.
  • Strong understanding of community development and participatory approaches.
  • Knowledge of child safeguarding and protection principles.
  • Good report-writing, communication, and facilitation skills.
  • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Fluency in Kinyarwanda and English; knowledge of French is an added advantage.
