Job responsibilities

Install, keep, test, and repair hospital electrical systems and equipment.

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical installations.

Inspect electrical panels, distribution boards, cables, switches, sockets, lighting, and protective devices.

Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore power safely and promptly.

keep main power supply, generators, UPS systems, batteries, and emergency power systems.

keep normal and emergency lighting systems, including lighting in operating theatres, wards, laboratories, and other critical areas.

Test and keep electrical protection systems such as circuit breakers, fuses, earthing, and surge protection.

track electrical loads and detect potential overloads or unsafe conditions.

Carry out electrical installations for new buildings, renovations, and hospital equipment.

assist the installation and connection of medical and non-medical equipment in coordination with biomedical and engineering teams.

Respond to electrical emergencies and power failures, particularly in critical clinical departments.

Carry out routine inspections and electrical safety testing.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.

keep accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance, faults, and electrical test results.

help with energy-efficiency initiatives and track unnecessary power consumption.

Supervise or organize electrical contractors when required.

Ensure all electrical work follows applicable electrical codes, occupational-safety requirements, and hospital procedures.

keep electrical tools, testing instruments, spare parts, and equipment in good condition.

Qualifications

Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering,

Advanced Diploma (A1) in Renewable Energy

Required competencies and key technical skills

Knowledge to advise on the electrical power aspects of new equipment and systems;

Knowledge of electrical or electronic parts and hardware on hospital equipment
