Position Overview:
The University of Kigali is seeking Assistant Lecturer Positions in its School of Law (SOL) to join their academic team.

The University of Kigali invites applications for lecturer positions within the School of Law (SoL). These roles are critical to strengthening the University’s academic profile, enhancing institutional visibility, and supporting the delivery of high-quality teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision across all campuses. Successful candidates will contribute directly to the University’s mission of academic excellence, innovation, and positive societal impact.

Lecturers in the School of Law will be tasked with delivering rigorous, learner-centered instruction at the undergraduate level, while actively engaging in research, publications, and knowledge dissemination. They will assist the development, evaluate, and continuous improvement of academic programs, ensuring alignment with national regulatory requirements and international best practices. Through their scholarly and teaching contributions, they will help position the University of Kigali as a leading institution for advanced legal education and research.

In addition to teaching and research responsibilities, lecturers will serve as key ambassadors of the University to both internal and external stakeholders. This includes engagement with prospective students, parents, alumni, partner institutions, industry stakeholders, and the wider community to effectively communicate the University’s academic offerings, research strengths, and overall value proposition. Strong communication skills and a commitment to institutional representation are therefore essential.

Required Positions

The School of Law (SoL) invites applications for the following lecturer positions:

  • Public Law& Private Law (3) Positions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver high-quality, learner-centered teaching at undergraduate level in assigned law courses.
  2. produce and update course outlines, teaching materials, and assessment tools in line with approved curricula and regulatory requirements.
  3. perform research and contribute to scholarly publications, conferences, and other academic outputs.
  4. Supervise and assist postgraduate students in research projects, dissertations, and theses.
  5. Participate in curriculum development, evaluate, and accreditation processes to ensure academic excellence and compliance with national and international standards.
  6. Engage in academic advising, mentoring, and student assist activities.
  7. Serve on academic and administrative committees within the School of Law and the University.
  8. Contribute to community engagement, legal outreach, and institutional visibility initiatives.
  9. Uphold professional ethics, academic integrity, and University policies at all times.
  10. Actively represent and promote the University of Kigali in academic, professional, and public forums

Candidate Profile:

  1. Holder of a Doctor of laws (LLD) for lecturer positions in a relevant discipline from a recognized and accredited institution.
  2. Minimum of two (2) years of proven teaching experience at university or higher education level.
  3. Strong subject knowledge and expertise in their respective field
  4. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, learner-centered teaching.
  5. Experience in supervising student projects, dissertations, or theses
  6. Evidence of engagement in research and academic publication
  7. Ability to create and contribute to curriculum design and academic programs.
  8. Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  9. Ability to work effectively in a team and in a multicultural academic environment.
  10. Commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and continuous professional development.
