Position: Maintenance and Asset Care Technician

Youth For Christ Rwanda (YFC Rwanda) is a Christian, interdenominational organization committed to reaching young people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and helping them become lifelong followers of Christ. To strengthen the management and maintenance of its facilities and organizational assets, YFC Rwanda invites qualified and committed individuals to apply for the position of Maintenance and Asset Care Technician.

Duty Station:

Kigali, Rwanda, with travel to YFC Rwanda schools, ministry centers, and project sites as required.

Reports To: Logistics and Procurement Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:

The Maintenance and Asset Care Technician will be tasked with ensuring that YFC Rwanda's buildings, equipment, furniture, utilities, and other physical assets are maintained in a safe, functional, and efficient condition. The successful candidate will guide preventive maintenance activities, carry out technical repairs, organize specialized maintenance services, and contribute to the effective management of organizational facilities and assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • create and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Perform electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
  • perform regular inspections of facilities and organizational assets.
  • organize external technicians and contractors for specialized repairs.
  • keep maintenance records and produce monthly reports.
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards.
  • assist the management, protection, and proper utilization of organizational assets.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from departments and project sites.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • An Advanced Diploma (A1) or Bachelor's Degree (A0) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Building Services, Facilities Management, or a related technical field.
  • At least three (3) years of relevant experience in facilities maintenance, technical services, or asset maintenance.
  • Practical skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, equipment servicing, and preventive maintenance.
  • Good computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Experience in a Christian organization, NGO, educational institution, or similar environment will be an added advantage.

Faith Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Be committed born-again Christians with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrate Christian integrity and a lifestyle consistent with biblical values.
  • Agree with and uphold the Youth For Christ International Statement of Faith, Vision, Mission, and Core Values.
  • Be willing to participate actively in staff devotions, prayer meetings, and other spiritual formation activities.
  • Be committed to supporting the ministry of Youth For Christ Rwanda.
