JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teaching
• help with preparation of subjects to be taught as presented in modules
• help with teaching subjects in his/her area of specialization
• Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students through continual assessment tests and examinations
• Participate in organization of practices in classrooms, library and laboratories an d exams’ invigilation.

2. Research
• help with preparation of research proposals in line with his area of specialization and institutional thematic areas
• Participate in research activities aiming at solving community problems
• Publish research results at national, regional and international levels

3. Community Outreach
• Participate in dissemination of research findings to relevant stakeholders
• perform research projects which may guide to PhD studies
• Participate in organizing national scientific conferences

4. Consultancy
• perform consultancy activities in his area of specialization
• Compete successfully for income generating consultancies

5. Relevant Qualifications

Five (5) Assistant Lecturers

• Three (3) Assistant Lecturers with Master's degree with at least a second class upper division or at least 70% of:

o Master of Education in Foundations of Education or specialization in Philosophy of Education/Sociology of Education/History of Education)
o Master of Education in Curriculum Studies or Curriculum Development and Instruction
o Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Planning, Policy and Leadership or Educational Planning and Management
o Master of Education in Measurement, Assessment, and Evaluation
o Master of Education in Comparative and International Education
o Master's in Master’s Degree in Educational Studies

• Two (2) Assistant Lecturers with Master's degree with at least a second class upper division or at least 70% of:

o Master of Education in Educational Psychology
o Master of Education in Developmental or Child & Adolescent Psychology
o Master of Education in School Psychology or Learning Sciences
o Master of Education in Guidance and Counselling or Counselling Psychology
o Master of Education in Inclusive or Special Needs Education Psychology
o Master of Education in Educational Assessment & Psychological Measurement
o Master's in master's degree in social and behavior change communication
o Master's in Master's Degree in Education
o Master's in Mater's Degree in Psychology
o Master's in Master’s degree with Upper Second Class in Ed. with specialization in Educational Psychology/Philosophy

6. Desirable Qualifications and Experience

• Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Relevant teaching experience in Higher Learning Institutions.
• Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education or a validated Teaching Portfolio Certificate.

7. Required Documents

• Copy of degree certificate and, if obtained outside Rwanda, a degree equivalence certificate issued by the Higher Education Council.
