Mayange Rice Company Ltd (MRC), a rice milling enterprise located in Bugesera District, Mayange Sector, is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and qualified professional to fill the position of Accountant, who will work under the direct supervision of the Managing Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax laws, and regulations.
  • produce and analyze financial statements and management reports.
  • oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • deliver strategic financial insights to assist key business decisions.
  • guide, mentor, and supervise accounting staff.
  • organize and oversee internal/external audits and statutory tax filings.
  • execute and keep effective internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • track cash flow, oversee working capital, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Collaborate with senior management on financial strategy and organizational planning.
  • Ensure the highest level of accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • create, update, and execute accounting policies and procedures.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable operations.
  • oversee payroll and employee benefits administration.
  • produce and present clear financial reports to stakeholders.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or ACCA designation preferred (or candidate in progress).
  • Strong, practical knowledge of accounting principles and reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and financial management systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Solid experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • In-depth knowledge of local tax laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing audit processes and implementing internal control frameworks.
  • Demonstrated ability to guide, mentor, and motivate a team.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Prior experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, or a similar industry is an added advantage.
